After being overwhelmed by Utah 38-7 on Saturday, Oregon's hopes of reaching the College Football Playoff took a huge blow.

Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said that everyone was upset and disappointed. It should burn. It should hurt a lot. Guys are competitors and it's hard because we've taken a lot of pride in being able to bounce back from adversity. We didn't do a good enough job.

In its overtime loss to the Cardinal, the Ducks trailed by 10 at the half and had fallen behind throughout the season. There was nothing against Utah.

They settled for two missed field goals before falling behind and giving up a 78-yard punt return touchdown as time expired in the first half. It was clear that the Ducks weren't coming back.

Every head coach should always take responsibility for it, according to Cristobal. There is a lot to play for on the other side. We still have a lot of goals ahead of us. We have to get ready for them quickly by going back to work and they won't fix themselves, but surely not the standard tonight.

"It hurts," said Cristobal. Everybody should use the hurt as a motivation. We should be motivated to play next week because we have a lot of play for and by the time we wake up in the morning, this thing is behind us and we have to move forward.

Johnny Johnson III will miss the rest of the season due to an injury, as well as Jaylon Redd, who will miss the rest of the season due to an injury. The news comes on the heels of Mycah Pittman's announcement that he left the team and would transfer. The team's top five receiving leaders were all players.

Kyle Whittingham became Utah's all-time wins leader with the victory.

The win against Arizona State by Oregon State on Saturday gave the Ducks a chance to avenge their loss to Utah in the conference title game.

Both Oregon State and Washington State can make it to the title game. A win against Oregon and a loss by Washington in the Apple Cup would allow the Beavers to advance to the title game. If Oregon State beats Oregon, it will advance.

Utah converted 11 of 14 third-down conversions. The Utahs dominated at the line of scrimmage, limiting Oregon to just 63 yards rushing, while setting the tone with 208 rushing yards.
