Notre Dame is getting cheated.
It was ruffed.
Disrespected.
The Fighting Irish should be in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings. A bunch of know-nothings who dislike blue and gold, who can't stand how shiny Notre Dame officials keep the Golden Dome, and who prefer Touchdown Jesus were the reason they were only eighth last week.
This was odd. After the Irish beat Georgia Tech in Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Jack Swarbrick stopped in the middle of the stadium to think about what he had said about a conspiracy against his program.
You know, that's right, Swarbrick said. I have faith in the selection committee and the process. They are paying attention to the second half of the year. We are playing as well as anyone in the country. We didn't play well in the first five games.
Yeah, um. Right.
Notre Dame opened the season with an overtime thriller on the road against a Florida State team that evolved into little worth mentioning. The Irish almost lost their home opener. Toledo was not captivating the following week, when they played instate-rival Purdue.
The Irish did hammer. Even though they lost at home the following week to Cincinnati, that is no disgrace. The folks at the CFP think that the Bearcats are fifth.
This Notre Dame isn't the same as Notre Dame.

Knute Rockne, the Four Horsemen, the two Joes, the Rocket and a lot of others were turned into Notre Dame football legends when they played in November.
The Irish used that backdrop to suggest they have enough elite players to shake down the thunder, as the line goes in their Victory March. Georgia Tech is awful. Bobby Knight once said that Notre Dame should play the game instead of the opponent, and the Irish have excelled at conquering the game from Halloween through Thanksgiving.
Notre Dame keeps making those who vote for the CFP look silly, and it's because of apologies to Swarbrick, who probably wishes not to create enemies among his peers.
I think that the people who were selected for theCFP aren't anywhere near their final ranking.
I was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, where I sat in Notre Dame Stadium to watch the 10-1 Irish roll toward a third trip to the CFP in four years. They looked worse than the fourth-best team in the country behind Georgia and Notre Dame, so you can move them to Notre Dame among those remaining three slots.

After Notre Dame was nearly perfect on offense, defense and special teams against Georgia Tech, Brian Kelly had it.
Kelly told us after the press conference that he was nearly two months away from passing Rockne as the winningest coach in Notre Dame history with 112 victories. You don't get many of these opportunities as a head coach, where you have a senior day, and you have a resounding victory, and it's not snowing in South Bend.
Georgia Tech felt like it was snowing, hailing, raining and sleeting like crazy, but it only was a Notre Dame defense that hasn't allowed a touchdown in three games after it stifled Navy and Virginia in previous weeks. Jack Coan is an efficient quarterback and the Notre Dame offense has a lot of good running backs.
Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer said of Coan, a graduate transfer from Wisconsin, that he is brilliant at mastering his emotions.
Coan can also pass. He completed 15 of his 20 throws for a total of 285 yards and two touchdown against Georgia Tech, but he was on the sideline for the rest of the game.
It was a terrifc day. Kelly said that the guys executed at a high level. What is not to like about what happened today? No injuries were reported to me. The players played to their potential. You don't like me for this, but I'm not interested in style points. I also covered that one.
