After his team's overtime win over Florida on Saturday, Eli Drinkwitz ended his news conference by making fun of Gators' coach Dan Mullen.
After the University of Florida beat the University of Missouri in a football game, Mullen dressed up as Darth Vader and spoke to reporters in full costume.
Drinkwitz paused before he left the media in Columbia. He lifted the hood of his sweatshirt and pulled a toy lightsaber out from behind the podium.
Drinkwitz repeated the famous line from the Star Wars movie franchise.
The game was tied three times before Drinkwitz's team scored in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
During the first overtime, Florida scored a touchdown on a trick play and kicked a successful extra point. Tyler Badie scored a touchdown for Missouri. Drinkwitz went for two and the win rather than try to tie the score.
Drinkwitz threw the winning pass to the tight end.
Missouri and Florida both improved to 5-5.
The Gators have lost to a Power 5 team four times. Questions about the long-term viability of Dan Mullen remaining the head coach have arisen because of Florida's 5-9 record in its past 14 games.
The coach lamented how his team had committed nine penalties compared to the four that Missouri had.
He said that they have to be mentally tougher. "That's on the coaches and our preparation."
Florida will try to avoid finishing the season below.500 when it hosts Florida State next Saturday.
A reporter asked if he still wants to be the head coach at Florida.
He said he loves being the coach of the Gators. We're giving everything we have.
The players were praised for their work ethic.
He was upset that Saturday was the seventh straight loss by a touchdown or less.
"It's unfortunate and it's tough," he said. It is a play here and there. I'm looking at our guys, and that's on us.
