The team announced Saturday that running back Miles Sanders was going to be activated from injured reserve.

According to a source, the player is expected to play against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Philadelphia's lead back is expected to be Sanders, who practiced all week.

"If Miles is healthy and ready to go, he's our starter," Nick said.

The distribution of snaps could be different compared to when he was last in the lineup. The trio of Jordan Howard, Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell were effective in the absence of the man. Over the past three games, the trio had 91 carries for 427 yards.

Howard has racked up over 200 yards and three touchdown on 41 carries over that time, with a YPC of 5.1. He spent the early part of the year on the practice squad, but is expected to be part of the rotation moving forward.

"When you have some guys that are running the ball well, that's a good problem to have," he said. It speaks to the depth of the running back room. It's a long season and the Eagles general manager and his staff did a great job getting the players in here and having depth. You're going to have bumps and injuries. It's important that the guys who step in for the starter are ready to go. Jordan, Boston, and Kenny have done a good job filling in for Miles.

He ran 63 times for 300 yards and added 19 catches for 118 yards in seven games before getting hurt. As he went down, the Eagles were changing their approach. In Weeks 1-8, the team's backs carried the ball 96 times for 444 yards, compared with 125 times for 626 yards in Weeks 1-8.
