Google might finally fix iOS reactions in Android messages

The texting differences between phones have been dividing us for a long time. One of the most annoying things about mixed texts is about to go away.

According to 9to5Google, a change to the Android Messages app that will display iPhone users' message reactions as emojis has been in the works for a while. Until now, if an iPhone user held their finger down on a message and chose the thumbs up symbol, it would be sent to any other users in the message chain.
The thumbs up symbol will appear underneath the message if an iPhone user likes it. It is a simple change that will make a world of difference for those of us with friends and family on the other side of the mobile operating system aisle. It's a great way to fill a group text with unnecessary bloat and annoy everyone involved, but it's also a way to turn each message into a separate text of its own for the other users.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but this is a great step in the right direction. Messages and Apple Pay Cash are features that are enjoyed by users of the other platform. The green text bubbles that show up on the end of mixed text chains are not the only ones.
Progress is still progress. Take some time to celebrate.
