There is a new launch company that is able to count itself among the small group that has reached space. The rocket startup took off from its launch site in Alaska at 1 AM local time on Friday.
The follow-up to the last attempt was called 'LV0007', and it was a rocky start with a brief hover and sideways strafe movement just after liftoff. The cause of the misfire was investigated by Astra before the launch of the LV0007 in October. The weather shifted that.
A year ago, the company reached space with its test launch, but was surprised by how close it came to achieving the goal.
With a rapid turn around and high-volume approach to manufacturing, it claims it will be possible for even more companies to get their cargo to space on dedicated missions.
Benjamin Lyon, the company's Chief Engineer, will be with us at the conference and we will talk about the win.
