Tesla makes some of the least reliable cars, Consumer Reports says. See which brands came out on top.

Consumer Reports' annual reliability study shows that the world's most valuable car company makes some of the least reliable vehicles.
Consumer Reports considered 28 brands this year, and the electric-vehicle maker, which is now worth more than $1 trillion, ranked 27th. Lincoln was the only brand that got a lower reliability score.
Consumer Reports uses surveys to find out the types of issues vehicle owners have had. The data is used to predict how reliable the models will be.
The brand's overall standing was dragged down by the below average reliability scores of the Model S, Model Y, and Model X. Consumer Reports still recommends the Model 3 sedan.

Lexus, Mazda, Toyota, Infiniti, Buick, Honda, and Subaru are at the top of the heap. Volkswagen, Genesis, and Jeep are the bottom five. The Lexus GX, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota Prius, and Cadillac XT5 are the most reliable models.
Consumer Reports studied electric vehicles and found them all over the map. The Nissan Leaf, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Kia Niro EV all scored above average. The most reliable group was compact hybrid.
The category with the worst performance was fully electric SUVs. The lowest ranked car in that segment was the Model X from theTesla. The problems typically involved components like in-car electronics.

Over the years, the company has raced to deliver more vehicles and has had quality issues. It's typical for models to come with body work that is not perfect, and ill-fitting trim, which is what German luxury brands like BMW and Audi have spent decades ironing out.
The mistakes don't seem to deter buyers or make them less enamored with their cars. Consumer Reports studied owner satisfaction and found that the electric car company was the No.1 choice.
