'The Sandlot' Star Art LaFleur Dead at 78

It was.

Art LaFleur, who played Babe Ruth in the movie "The Sandlot," is dead.

According to his wife, the actor died of Parkinson's disease. Art died at his home surrounded by his children and wife, and he was cracking jokes to make his family laugh while he was in Hospice care.

Art was remembered by his wife as a generous and selfless man, but more importantly, he was for his family and friends.

Art is well-known for his role in "The Sandlot", but he also played a baseball player in "Field of Dreams" with Kevin Costner.

He didn't get into acting until he moved from Chicago to Los Angeles at the ripe old age of 31. He went on to become one of the most well-known character actors in movies such as "The Blob," "Cobra" and a couple of the "Santa Clause" films.

He was a cast member on "Malcolm in the Middle," "The Bernie Mac Show," "JAG" and many other shows.

Art was 78 years old.

I am sad.
