All This Week's Toys Just Want to Sit in the Gengarmchair

By

io9's weekly excuse to flop into a Gengar-shaped chair and read the latest toy and merchandise news is back. Do you not have a Gengarmchair? This is the week for you. If you also like the toys of the Mandalorians, then this is a good thing. Check it out!

S.H. Figuarts is the author of The Mandalorian.

Two figures that aren't in beskar armor are getting a boost to The Mandalorian's presence in the Star Wars Figuarts line. Even if one of them still is armored like what seems to be the majority of the choices for Star Wars figures from the past few months. The armored option will include Moff Gideon, who will have the Darksaber, a blaster pistol, and an articulated material cape. In the shocking climatic scenes of the season, he is joined by a hooded and similarly articulated cloak, an updated head sculpt, and his lightsaber, complete with an action-effect blade. The release window for the figures will be sometime in 2022.

Iron Man Mech Armor, Lego Black Panther, and Lego Wolverine.

This time around, the snikting superhero is being upgraded with a robot that includes some of the largest Adamantium claws we have ever seen, as a Lego minifigure. All three sets will be available for $10 each on January 1st next year.

Super7 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Party wagon.

Cowabunga! Super7 has finally given its Ultimates!-scale Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures the perfect ride with a matching scale Party Wagon van. The vehicle is over 20 inches long and a foot wide and can hold six Ultimates!-scale figures, and it has all of the features and accessories from the classic TMNT animated series. There is a side door that swings out as a foot tenderizer. The Party Wagon has bombs and weapons, as well as real rubber tires and a steel chain, and it even has a winch with a steel chain. This thing is $450 because of that. Shipping is not happening until fall of 2022.

There is a Star Wars Life Day plush.

Lucasfilm used to bury the Star Wars Holiday Special, but there was still a chance that it existed. Disney decided the special isn't all bad, and is taking advantage of its featured Life Day celebration with an official holiday and new Life Day merchandise. The Life Day plush is just as bad as the holiday special, but it has a grimacing face that deserves to be turned into a meme.

Lego Iron Man figure.

It has been over two years since Iron Man was killed off in the movie, but you wouldn't know it if you hadn't seen it. A nine-inch buildable Lego model will be arriving on January 1 for $40.00. The 381-piece set produces a figure with loads of articulation, but its best feature is an Arc reactor in Stark's chest that glows thanks to an LED Lego Light Brick implanted in Iron Man's back.

Dinosaur glows in the dark.

Dinosaur skeletons at museums are still a great experience for young and old, even if you don't want to go to a real-life dinosaur park. The perfect museum gift shop souvenir is the plush dinosaur toys that turn inside out to reveal a glowing skeleton version of the same dino. Pre-ordered through a crowd funding campaign with a $35 pledge, the triceratops version can be delivered as early as April 2022, and is another clever way to sneak some learning into playtime. If the campaign goes above and beyond the $12,000 goal, a T.rex will be added and a stegosaurus will be added.

There is a life-size plush Lucario.

You can now add a life-size Lucario to your plush pocket monster collection if you love Pokémon as much as you hate living in a small space. Lucario is around four feet tall and appears to have basic posability which is limited to its arms at the shoulder. Pre-orders for the $400 collectible will be available until December 16, but it won't arrive until late May 2022, and only in Japan, unless you can import it.

The Pokémon Gengar Sofa is a character from the video game.

The Gengar sofa is stuffed with a mix of polystyrene beads and urethane foam and is based on Ditto and Snorlax. It will swallow you up if you are in Japan and willing to spend around $230, or if you can find someone willing to ship it outside of Japan, which will cost you a lot more.
