Sam Bee delivers the message that December 8 is the deadline to junk Postmaster Louis DeJoy

Bee knows that you haven't been receiving her letters reminding you that there is a farcically corrupt greed-head in charge of the United States Postal Service. She has a TV show, not a newsletter. Bee knows that you would probably still be waiting for the newest issue, even if Full Frontal were a late-night ’zine.

Bee brought on the President of the New York Metro Area Postal Union, Jonathan Smith, to talk about why this year's family holiday letter is likely to be late. Smith told Bee that he believed DeJoy was sent to sabotage the Postal Service, not just the Postal Service, but the people's confidence in the Postal.

For an employee to publicly tell jokes at the expense of the head of his industry is unprecedented, if not for the fact that DeJoy's tenure as Postmaster has been widely derided as one of the shiftiest, greediest, and most un. Unions are a very good thing. DeJoy, who still holds financial stake in companies that would benefit from the Postal Service, was installed by a former president who was desperate to discourage mail-in voting. He knew he would lose the election if he tried to suppress votes from people and communities.

As Smith explained, DeJoy had to remove automated mail sorting equipment from strategic branches, order empty postal trucks to leave branches on his new schedule, and eliminate overtime as his very first action as Trump's Postmaster. Smith said that the only people who will benefit from such a deliberate slowdown are private delivery companies. Not the elderly, overseas troops, small businesses, and people in rural areas are affected by DeJoy.

Bee has a friend who is the current chair of the USPS Board of Governors, Ron Bloom, who was also involved in the privatization of the U.K. mail system. Bee explained that President Joe Biden can't junk mail DeJoy right into the recycling bin because he can't do that. Smith reminds us that the USPS is not a for-profit business.

We can call the White House to urge President Biden to replace DeJoy's-bullshit Bloom, whose term ends on December 8. Smith advised people to call rather than write to the White House, as the deadline only lasts a couple of weeks.
