The trial of the father-and-son pair of Gregory and Travis McMichael and a neighbor, William "Roddie" Bryan, who were charged with chasing down and killing an African American man in a suburban Georgia neighborhood in February of 2020, will conclude on Thursday.

The defense says that the men were engaged in a citizen's arrest and mistakenly identified Arbery as a suspect, and that the 25-year-old McMichael shot Arbery with a shotgun in self-defense.

Self-defense is not possible in the case since the men were acting as if they were attacking someone.

More than 100 people gathered outside the courthouse on Thursday to form a "Wall of Prayer" after defense attorney Kevin Gough complained about pastors attending the trial.

The presence of civil rights figures has made for an "atmosphere" that is unfair, and that's why Gough has called for a mistrial multiple times.

Judge Timothy Walmsley said the attorney's comments on the matter were "reprehensible".
