Jamaica makes it easier for vaccinated tourists to visit with new travel rules

Jamaica has begun to relax more of its travel rules due to the Pandemic.

Jamaica was one of the first destinations in the Caribbean to welcome tourists back last year, but it did so by limiting them to certain areas. The tourism board opened a "resilient corridor" which is essentially low-risk COVID zones that stretch from Negril to Port Antonio in the east and from Negril to the south of Jamaica. Tourists were able to visit these areas without quarantining, but anyone who stayed outside of these zones had to bevaccinated for up to 14 days.

Visitors staying outside the corridor will no longer have to comply with the island's quachicle requirements. Andrew Holness, the prime minister of Jamaica, announced on Wednesday that they would test negative for carbon dioxide within three days of arriving in Jamaica.

There are many restrictions in place in Jamaica.

The new protocol means that anyone who's vaccine-free can travel all over Jamaica, provided they take a pre-departure test. Visitors who are unvaccinated will be kept out of the corridor for 14 days if they have a test result.

In Jamaica, most businesses are open and hotels and resorts are full. The capital Kingston is still experiencing the Pandemic. There is a nationwide curfew from 9pm to 5am until December 9. Nightclubs are closed, beach parties are banned, and restaurants and bars are only 50% full according to the UK Foreign Office.

Anyone over the age of 12 is subject to Jamaica's entry rules. Travelers are required to complete a Travel Authorization Form before leaving for Jamaica.
