Julius Jones' Death Sentence Commuted, Gets Life Without Parole

Kim thanked Gov. Stitts for his decision, and she also said that Jones refused to take the medication that was offered to prisoners who are to be executed.

He wanted me to convey a few messages that were important to him. You have to make sure you are doing the right thing. Julius was hanging out with the wrong crowd and that landed him in the position he is in today.

Julius Jones will have his life spared, but will remain in prison.

Jones' death sentence will be commuted to life without parole by Oklahoma's Gov. Kevin Stitt.

Stitt says he made the decision after considering all of the evidence.

The Parole Board said Julius should not be executed but should be sentenced to life in prison.

As you know... The man was charged and convicted of first-degree murder in 2002 for the shooting death of a man.

Julius maintained his innocence, and there was a lot of circumstantial evidence linking him to the murder.

Kim reached out to the Jones family to let them know where things stood on Julius' case.

Julius is going to have his life spared.
