(Update: More Targeted) Hilton free night certificate offer with just $8K spend! [Targeted]

Stephen said that when the offer appeared a couple of weeks ago, his wife and I were not targeted on any of our Amex Hilton cards.

When I paid my bill today, I noticed that I was being targeted for the offer in the Amex offers section and so I immediately signed up. I checked my wife's account but the offer didn't show up in her Amex offers. She was able to enroll in the offer when she checked the link on her card. We can earn a free night certificate while simultaneously earning 6x at the grocery store.

A number of readers have reached out to share the details of an offer that they have received to earn a free night certificate with just $8,000 spent, and some of them have received this on a Hilton card and others on a Hilton surpass card. This is a great deal for those who are targeted.

The deal was made.

The email was sent out to the card members with the exclusive deal to get a Free Night Reward after they first enroll and spend $8,000.
The email contents are targeted but the email itself has the same generic subject line, ", your Card Member perks summary is here", that goes out to all card members.
You can check if you are targeted.

Key terms.

Targeted.
Purchases made prior to enroll will not count.
The email address associated with your account will receive the free night award.
After meeting the spending threshold, the free night award email may come up to 16 weeks.
The free night awards will be valid until 12/31/22 and will be valid for a year after that.

Quick thoughts.

I think any spend done after registration should count towards both certificates, as the offer on the surpass card is an amazing deal for those still spending toward a free night.

This is a great deal. The standard room awards can only be used with the free night certificates. You can use the free night awards at almost any of the properties in the world, including places like the Waldorf-Astoria Maldives, which is currently charging as much as 150K points per night for a standard room.

The email clearly states that you can redeem your free night reward any night of the week. I'm glad to see that it's extended to a certificate that you could earn next year, since it's been a temporary feature.

First, the terms state that certificates issued before 12/31/21 will be valid until 12/31/22 and certificates issued after that will be valid for 12 months from the date they are issued. The certificate will be issued up to 16 weeks after the spending threshold is met. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a long time for the free night certificate to show up on the card, because it takes around the 12 weeks that they suggest. If you only use the certificate sooner than that, I wouldn't complete the spend.

I think that most people who have this card should use it. Any night of the week until the end of the year is valid for the free night certificate. You will get another free night certificate after your renewal. If you combine those two certificates with one for $8K spend, you have yourself at least a 3-day weekend before you consider the points you will earn. If you only get $250 in value out of the free night certificate, you can still earn at least 3 Hilton points per dollar on top of that. I would do this one in a heartbeat.

This is a great way to make a tax payment before the end of the year.

The email that comes periodically has a cardmember perks summary. The emails we received in my household did not have the offer of triple points on stays and free coffee, but just triple points on stays and free coffee for 6 months at Panera. I have had a few free coffee subscriptions in a row, but my wife recently canceled and didn't receive an offer to sign back up, so that may work out for her. I dislike coffee from Panera more than I dislike paying for it, so I drink it now and then.

The odds may be in your favor if you check those emails.
