Since she accused a top Chinese official of sexual assault, she has not been heard from. One of China's biggest sports stars is a tennis player.

On November 2nd, Peng posted on Weibo that she had an affair with the former vice-premier. The post was taken down and the internet in China was blocked because of it.

She hasn't been heard from since.

US tennis star Noami Osaka used the #WhereisPengShuai to express her concern over the disappearance of her friend.

A tennis player went missing after she revealed she had been sexually abused, Osaka said. "Censorship is never ok at any cost, I hope the family of Peng Shuai are okay." I'm in shock of the situation and I'm sending her love.

Ai Weiwei was released on bail in Beijing and was able to leave his studio.

Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is a dissident who has been critical of China's government. He was attacked by Chinese police in 2009, after he published criticisms of the Chinese government on a blog.

Human Rights Watch says that the artist was disappeared in April of 2011 after he was accused of tax evasion. He couldn't speak with his lawyer, and his wife was allowed to visit him once.

Ai was released in June 2011. He was let go because of his good attitude in admitting his crimes as well as his chronic disease, the government said.

Jack Ma, a high-profile Chineseentrepreneur and e-commerce billionaire, disappeared from public view after he criticized the Chinese financial industry in an October 2020 speech.

The Chinese government ordered probes into Ma's companies and tightened regulations. It was seen as an attempt by the government to regain control over tech giants that wield economic and political power.

In a January 2021 video, the businessman reappeared after vanishing for over two months. Ma was flat and subdued in the video, according to George. The Financial Times later reported that Ma was merely lying low.

Ma was seen in Spain in October of 2021.

Whitney Duan and her ex- husband were involved in several large developments in Beijing, according to Time magazine. Duan, who also goes by Duan Weihong, went missing in Beijing.

She spoke with The New York Times in 2012 about an investigation that found many of the relatives of the then-prime minister became extremely wealthy during his political career. Duan denied having financial ties to the prime minister.

Shum couldn't get in touch with Duan for four years after she vanished. He left the country and hasn't come back.

September 9, 2021.

Shum told Time that he got messages from Duan urging him to call her. For the first time in four years, her line wasn't dead after he did. Shum said that Duan begged him not to publish his book about corruption in the Chinese Communist Party.

She asked me to stop the book launch and how would I feel if my son died. What would happen to our son if something happened to me? Shum told Time that he took that to be a threat.

Several billionaires and wealthy moguls vanished from the public sphere for a period of time. Some were taken into custody to assist with investigations.

Ren went missing after he criticized the government.

In March 2020 Ren Zhiqiang vanished after writing an essay about how the Chinese government was handling the COVID-19 epidemic.

His friends told The New York Times he went missing. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison after a court found him guilty of a number of financial crimes, but his peers said the sentence was due to his essay.

"This was punishment for his words, that's going to be obvious to everyone," sociologist Guo Yuhua told the Times. The economic problems can be made up whenever you want.

A Chinese human rights lawyer, Wang Quanzhang, was arrested with 200 other people in 2015 for their activism in the country. He was found guilty of subverting state power in a closed-door court with no journalists or foreign diplomats present.

His family did not know where he was for three years.

In the year of 2017, his wife Li said she didn't know if he was alive or dead. I have no idea what's going on. He has left the face of the earth. It is frightening and brutal.

Wang has no right to communicate with the outside world because he wasn't allowed to meet the lawyer that we have employed for him.

Wang was released in April 2020.
