Jesse Lingard: Man Utd midfielder's future in doubt as contract talks break down

Lingard has only started one game for Manchester United this season.

Lingard's future at Manchester United is in doubt after talks over a new contract collapsed.

After an excellent loan spell at West Ham in the second half of last season, Manchester United hoped to extend the current deal of the 28-year-old.

Lingard decided to stay at Manchester United this season even though he was asked about his services by six other clubs.

Lingard has started just one game all season and that was against West Ham in the EFL Cup. He has made 76 substitute appearances. Even though he lost his place in the World Cup squad for the victories against San Marino and Albania, he has had more game time for England than United.

Lingard is one of a number of players confused by Solskjaer's decision not to give more players a chance as the club look to arrest a terrible run of results, which has included a 2-0 loss to Manchester City and a 5-0 home defeat by Liverpool.

On Saturday, United will play in the premier league, on Tuesday, and on Sunday, November 28, they will play in the europes league.

Lingard, who has been with United since he was seven, will hope to get a loan move in January, as he sees little point in seeking further talks.
