National League: Premier League makes additional £5m available for Covid impact funding

In front of a National League record crowd of over 12,000, Notts County beat Solihull Moors.

The National League will get an additional £5m of impact funding from the premier league.

The funds will be made available over the next four campaigns.

Half of the money will be given to clubs in the National League and the other half to clubs in the National League North and South.

Over the next three seasons, the rest of the money will be distributed.

The 2020-21 National League North and South campaigns were declared null and void in February due to the effects of the Pandemic, as clubs failed to fulfill fixture and had serious financial struggles.

The National League season went on despite some clubs voting against it.

Many had only been in a position to start the season after a grant from the government.

Loans with grants were available in exceptional circumstances.

Part of the exclusion order agreement with the government is related to the renewal of the live and non-live broadcast rights of the Premier League.

The National League chairman said that the new funding came after the Premier League helped with the provision of valuable financial support during the Pandemic.

The impact of Covid-19 was particularly severe at our level of the game and this new commitment is a timely boost which will aid clubs in their recovery and enable them to plan for the future.
