Somerset reprimand Jack Brooks over historical tweets



Jack Brooks was reprimanded by the cricket club for sending a historical tweets with racist connotations.

The club looked into two of the two messages sent by the now 36-year-old when he was playing for Northamptonshire.

"I am sorry", said Brooks.

He said he was embarrassed and devastated by his comments.

He acknowledged that the posts were not in line with his personal values and that they were made nearly a decade ago.

Jack has apologized for his past mistakes and has been open and honest throughout the investigation.

The club considered a number of factors, including no evidence of repeated documented behavior of this kind, the contrition shown by Jack throughout the process, feedback received from recipients of the social media posts, and his commitment to his own personal development.

Jack will be reprimanded, reminded of his responsibilities and required to participate in extensive training on equality, diversity and inclusivity.
