Vietnam carmaker VinFast will start selling two EV models in the US next year as it challenges Tesla on its home turf

The Los Angeles Auto Show is where VinFast will unveil two full battery-electric SUV models.

VinFast is a car subsidiary of Vin Group, which is headed by the country's richest man, Pham Nhat Vuong.

The VF e35 and VF e36 large electric SUVs will be introduced to the US in the first half of next year and will be delivered in the fourth quarter, VinFast said in a press release.

The VF e35 will have a maximum range of over 300 miles per charge, and the e36 will be able to travel over 400 miles per charge, according to the Associated Press. According to SolarReviews.com, a tesla can get between 262 and 405 miles per charge.

It's too early to talk about the pricing for the US market, but VinFast wants to offer "world-class product quality, reasonable prices, and then really good."

The VF e34 SUV is listed on VinFast's website in Vietnam for $30,500. Motor Trends says that the price of aTesla is around $47,000 and goes up to $250,000 for its yet-to-be-released Roadster.
The SUVs will initially be built in Vietnam, but the company is planning to make them in the US in the second half of the year. The company is looking for a site.
