Liz Cheney says Ted Cruz should be 'defending his wife, and his father, and the Constitution' after attacks from Trump

Liz Cheney criticized Ted Cruz for not defending his wife and father from attacks by former President Donald Trump.

Cruz told Sean Hannity that the former president broke the congresswoman.

I've always liked her, I don't agree with her on everything, but I think she falls into the category of people who want to invade countries all over the planet.

She hates Donald Trump so much that she has no choice but to use her system. She's lashing out at Trump and Republicans and she's become a Democrat and it's sad to watch. He said it was Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Cheney said that the Texas Republican who ran against Trump should have stood up for his family when the former president attacked them.

Cheney said that Trump broke Ted Cruz. A real man would be defending his family.

In March 2016 Trump went after Cruz's wife, who was seen as unflattering by many, when he retweeted a picture of her.

The caption on Trump's message said "No need to'spill the beans'", in reference to his desire to compare Cruz with his wife. The images are worth a lot of words.

When Cruz spoke with reporters, he responded furiously.

It's hard to get me off. If you mess with my wife or my kids, that will make me angry every time. He said that Donald was a sniveling coward and that he should leave his wife alone.

In May of that year, Trump brought up a dubious National Enquirer story that sought to link the elder Cruz to Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated President John F. Kennedy in November 1963.

The Enquirer claimed that Cruz was photographed in the early 1960s distributing leaflets in support of Castro.

The Cruz campaign described the Enquirer story as cheap tabloid garbage.

Cheney has become one of Trump's most prominent Republican critics since the January 6 insurrection, but she has not commented on the party members incensed over her vocal criticism of the former president.

Cruz mocked the congresswoman's chances when the panel asked if she had a lane in the New Hampshire primaries.

The Texas Republican wrote "Yes". The Democratic primary is called that.

Cheney called out Cruz for courting voters who weren't aligned with the country's founding document and original principles.

Ted, I know you are posturing for the vote. The Republican party saved the Union. You swore an oath. She wrote that she should act like it.
