A baby Sumatran elephant died after losing half of its trunk to a trap.

The calf was left behind by its herd after being caught in a snare trap.

It was found by villagers in the town of the same name and brought to a agency to be treated.

The officials tried to save it's life by amputating its trunk, but it died from its injuries two days later.

The head of the agency said that they couldn't save it because of the injury.

We did our best to help.

Male elephants are vulnerable to being Poachers because of their ivory which is sold on the illegal ivory market.
