Over the past few years, Discord has quietly built its own app platform. More than 30 percent of the Discord server now uses bots, and 430,000 of them are used every week by its 150 million monthly active users. The company is embracing the use of bots even more with the ability to search and browse for them on Discord.

A new app discovery feature will be introduced in the spring of 2022. There are around 12,000 verified apps and bots that will be discoverable through this feature. Once developers are fully prepared for a new influx of users that can easily find their bots, they will be able to opt into discoverability.

There are a lot of options for customizations on the Discord server. bots are installed on the server to help moderate the server or offer features to the community. There are popular bots that will spit out a meme on a daily basis, as well as bots that help you create your own bot, or music bots that let users listen to tunes together.

Two of the most popular music bots, Groovy and Rythm, were forced offline recently due to their use of YouTube to play music. It was an incident that shook the Discord bot community and confirmed that the bot is getting popular enough for a multinational company to notice.

Slash Commands is one of the ways that Discord is making it easier to learn how to use a bot. The ability to integrate bots into menus in a Discord server has also been added recently.

The new app discovery will make it easier for users of the Discord service to find bots, instead of relying on third-party websites or using a search engine. Adding bots to a server is easier with the add to server button on the profile of the bots.
