Georgia received a commitment Friday from ESPN 300 cornerback Julian Humphrey, making it two commitments from Bulldogs prospects who had previously committed to Florida in the past two days.
Georgia was able turn ESPN Junior 300 wide receiver Raymond Cottrell from Florida on Thursday. Humphrey was committed to the Gators up until Oct. 26, when he decommitted.
Humphrey is No. Humphrey is the No.177-ranked prospect overall. He is a 6-foot-1 corner from Houston weighing in at 185 lbs. After visiting several schools in Georgia, he decided to withdraw his commitment to Florida.
Cottrell is No. Cottrell, a 6-3, 215-pound receiver from Milton, Florida, is the No. 75 prospect in 2023. He was a Gators commit since July but switched to the Bulldogs because of his relationship to Cortez Hankton, receivers coach.
These commitments come just a few weeks following the controversy caused by Dan Mullen, Florida coach, telling a reporter that he did not want to talk about recruiting during the middle of the season.
Mullen stated, "We're now in the season," when asked about his recruitment approach. We'll do the recruiting after the season. We can discuss recruiting when it comes to recruiting time.
Kirby Smart was asked about his recruiting efforts after Georgia's victory over Florida. He replied that he and his staff were always focused on recruitment.
Smart stated, "If you don’t recruit there’s no coach that can outcoach recruitment." "I don’t care about who you are. You can't outcoach players, so the best coach ever is a recruiter. Everyone will tell you that defense is great because we have excellent players.
Florida's No. 23 recruiting class has fallen to No. 23 overall, and the No. 8 in the SEC, just behind South Carolina or Kentucky. Georgia currently ranks No. The No. 2 ranking in the class rankings is a fight for the No. As it nears the December early signing period, it will be in No. 1.
Georgia currently has 12 ESPN 300 commitments with Humphrey, which is the fourth-most FBS programs.
