Elon Musk sells another $690 million of Tesla stock after dumping $5 billion following Twitter poll

According to Friday filings, Elon Musk sold $690 Million more Tesla stock Thursday.

After asking Twitter whether he should sell 10% his stake in the $1 Trillion company, he made this announcement.

Musk sold stock worth $5 billion earlier in the week to help pay taxes on equity options.

Elon Musk sold $690 million more of Tesla stock on Friday. This comes days after he asked his Twitter followers if he should sell 10%.

Filings earlier in the week showed that Musk had sold approximately $5 billion worth of Tesla stock to pay taxes on equity options.

SEC filings revealed that Musk had sold around 640,000 shares on Friday at prices ranging between $1,056 and $1,104. His trust shares fell from 168.1 to 167.5 million to below 167.5 millions.

Just a week ago, Musk had posted a Twitter poll asking if he should sell 10% off his Tesla stock. Nearly 58% of respondents agreed.

Musk tweeted: "Much has been made lately about unrealized gains being used as a way to avoid tax, so I propose selling 10% my Tesla stock. This is what you think.

He said, "I will follow the results of this survey, no matter what it turns out to be."

Tesla stock fell from $1,220 at its peak on Monday to close at $1,063.51 Thursday. Premarket trading saw the company rise 0.54% to $1069.20.
