Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection Joins Marriott Bonvoy

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has joined Marriott Bonvoy. Members will be able redeem points and take advantage of exclusive perks when they cruise.
What is Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and what are its benefits?

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, a new cruise line, should soon have two ships sailing. They will measure 624 feet in length and have 149 rooms that can accommodate around 300 guests. This cruise line will be much smaller than the typical mega-cruise vessel and can offer some really cool destinations.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection had originally planned to begin sailing in 2020. However, this has been delayed by ship delays and the pandemic. There are many itineraries available, including those to Europe, the Caribbean and around the United States and Canada.

It is important to note that Ritz-Carlton Yacht collection has the Ritz Carlton name but very little to do Marriott. This seems to be a licensing agreement and the cruise line doesn't belong to Marriott.

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection unveils Marriott Bonvoy perks

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has announced a partnership with Marriott Bonvoy. It launches today, November 9, 20021. This partnership allows you to redeem points, earn elite nights and get elite perks for Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection cruises.

I was unsure if there would be redemption or points earning opportunities. I am very impressed. Let's look at all details.

Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points with Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Marriott Bonvoy members are eligible to earn points and elite nights on Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection cruises

Only 5x Bonvoy Points per Dollar on Cruise Fares

For every night you spend onboard, earn one night credit

Spending on cruises will count towards Ambassador status spending requirements

You can earn bonus points by using a Marriott Bonvoy credit card co-branded with Marriott. This is the same rate as when you stay at a Marriott property.

You earn half as many points at Marriott properties than you do at Marriott properties. Usually, you get 10x Bonvoy points for every dollar spent. The points earning rates aren’t as high, and you don’t get bonus points for elite status.

Redeem Marriott Bonvoy Points with Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collect

Marriott Bonvoy members can redeem points for Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection cruises:

To save $1,000 on your cruise ticket, redeem 180,000 Bonvoy Points

To save $500, you can redeem more than that (with no limitations) in increments up to 90,000. Bonvoy points.

Marriott Bonvoy values points at 0.56c per point towards the cost for a cruise. It's not great, it's still less than my valuation at 0.7 cents per points. However, it's not terrible considering the upcoming devaluation.

Marriott Bonvoy exclusive perks with Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection

Marriott Bonvoy elite members get some valuable perks on Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection cruises. The following elite perks are available to members:

All Marriott Bonvoy elite members will be invited to attend an exclusive onboard reception

Marriott Bonvoy Gold members above the age of 25 will be able to choose from an in-suite gift. This varies based on tier.

Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members or above will be eligible for a complimentary first night laundry pressing

Members of Marriott Bonvoy Titanium and above will be given priority boarding and departure

Marriott Bonvoy Ambassadors will have early access to S.E.A. Reservations and complimentary laundry during the cruise

These are quite decent perks considering how much is already included on cruises. So, typical hotel elite perks such as breakfast wouldn't be worth it. It's especially cool that Ambassador members get complimentary laundry.

Bottom line

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is now a Marriott Bonvoy member, which allows members to redeem points and enjoy elite perks. The participation of Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection in Marriott Bonvoy is better than I expected, both in terms points earning opportunities and elite benefits.

World of Hyatt and Lindblad Expeditions have a great partnership that allows members to earn elite credits and hotel points to redeem for cruises. This is even more lucrative for me, as you can earn points the same way you would at Hyatt.

When Ritz-Carlton Yacht collection was first announced, I had already booked a cruise. But, it turns out that the cruise was cancelled. This would have been my first cruise for nearly 20 years. Perhaps it is time to take another cruise?
