Elderly retired firefighter with concealed carry shoots Chicago robber dead: police

According to police, an elderly Chicago firefighter with a concealed carry permit was fatally shot by a robber while out in broad daylight.
At around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, the unidentified 77 year-old man was parked in a West Chesterfield parking garage. The armed robber pulled into the garage, demanding that the elderly man hand over his belongings.

According to police, the man pulled out his gun and shot the robber in both the head and the chest.

According to Chicago police, the man was issued a Firearms Owner Identification Card as well as a Concealed Carry Licence. Fox 32 reported that the Chicago Fire Department confirmed that he was a former firefighter.

The matter has been investigated.

Chicago saw more shootings and murders this year than in the previous three years. As of Nov. 1, Chicago had 678 victims and 3,766 shooters. Between Jan. 1 and October 31, 2020 data shows 661 murders, 3,443 people were shot and data from 2019 shows 432 murders.
