A Travis Scott Astroworld Festival attendee in Texas described on Instagram a disconcerting scene where medics had to scramble to deal with the chaos.
Officials describe the event as a "mass casualty" and at least eight people were killed. Video footage from the event captured festivalgoers dancing on top ambulances, causing a stampede. One man described the event as "concert in heaven" after he saw fans tear down a fence.
The Instagrammer stated, "I don’t think I’ve ever been more disturbed." "Some of these medical personnel had little or no experience with CPR. They didn't know how check a pulse, carotid, or femoral. So, people who had pulses were receiving CPR even though compressions were not being performed.
Insider requested additional information from the attendee. She did not respond immediately to our request.
She wrote, "When I stood up, I saw people being carried away with their eyes rolled into their heads by security and their noses bleeding from their mouths." "I shouted, "has ANYBODY checked my pulse?" "I yelled, "has ANYBODY checked a pulse?" At this point, the security guard asked her for confirmation. Her post replied.
According to the Instagrammer, there weren't enough medical equipment or medics like stretchers and ambubags. She said that there was no phone service available to call for more help.
She wrote that "Teenagers do CPR trying to help, but they're doing this incorrectly, then I notice there's other people performing CPR on people still having a pulse bc no one has done a pulse test." It was a complete shitshow.
