Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra Might Have an S Pen and a Hideous Camera Array

First images from the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung's next flagship smartphone, have been published. These images were provided by Jon Prosser, a sometimes-reliable tipter from Front Page Tech. The photos appear to have been taken as someone ran out of the door. However, the camera array at the back looks worse that when it was shown in renders some time back.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra appears to be a phablet-sized phone judging by the blurred photos. One image even shows an S Pen sliding out. This suggests that Onleaks renders were somewhat accurate. It is the return to Samsung's Galaxy Note, though with no separate branding. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is angular at the edges. This feels like a callback to Note fans who feel left behind.

The rear camera design, however, is quite different. The camera array appears glued together with its four lenses and one sensor. It doesn't exude the same sleekness as Samsungs previous flagship launches. It does not look flush like the S21 Ultra's camera setup, nor in the same refined housing that the previous renders. Google even found a way to combine the three cameras at the back of Pixel 6 without it looking like it just... added a bunch more camera hardware.

FrontPageTechs video on Galaxy S22 Ultra leaks.

Prosser claims that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature a 108MP wide angle primary camera, a 12MP super-wide lens, and a 10MP zoom lens with 10x zoom. A second 10MP zoom lens with 3X zoom will be available on the 10MP telephoto lenses. It is not clear if the digital zoom will be optical or digital. The fifth circle at the back of Galaxy S22 Ultra appears to be a laser-autofocus sensor.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra also has a 6.8 inch AMOLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to come with at least 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage.

Samsung's next batch of not-folding slabby smartphones is just a few months away. According to rumors, the Galaxy S22 will be released in February according to Samsung's previous launch schedules.
