AOC stated that Democrats lost in VA due to a campaign that did not fire up progressives.

Ocasio Cortez stated that the results showed "the limits of trying to run 100% super-moderated campaigns."

Democrats are worried about the 2022 midterm elections because of the loss in VA where Biden won 10 percentage points in 2020.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, a New York Rep., suggested Wednesday that the Virginia gubernatorial elections' devastating defeat for Democrats was due to a campaign that did not excite progressive voters.

I know Virginia was a big bummer. In fact, the results are a disappointment.

After Glenn Youngkin, the Republican challenger to Gov. Glenn Youngkin's defeat, Democrats are conducting soul-searching. Terry McAuliffe was a centrist Democrat in the race to be governor. In Virginia, Republican candidates won the races for attorney general and lieutenant governor. Democrats are anxious about the 2022 midterms, a split Senate and slim majority in Congress. This is especially true considering that President Joe Biden won Virginia by a large margin last November.

OcasioCortez and other prominent progressives have often claimed that Democrats are harming themselves by continuing to support moderate or centrist policies and candidates, while the Democratic party base is increasingly inclined left.

McAuliffe's Tuesday loss was announced by the progressive groups Battle Born Collective and Justice Democrats, Sunrise Movement and United We Dream Action. They released a statement saying, "We told You So." Literally. Virginia's experience is a reminder of what happens when Democrats fail the GOP's divide and conquer racism and don't motivate people to vote.

McAuliffe's campaign did not have a comprehensive economic message for workers against a literal magnate of private equity. It did not offer any positive information about the future four years for Virginians. It did not respond to Republican race-baiting bullshit. Simply put, it was a campaign that was designed to fail," added the statement. McAuliffe claimed McAuliffe ran an "illegitimate" campaign.

Some Democrats claim that McAuliffe's chances of winning were hampered by McAuliffe not being able to pass the two bills that amount to $3 trillion, which are crucial to Biden's economic agenda. The legislation has sparked a lot of bickering among Democrats.

Joseph Zeballos Roig, Insider economics reporter, said that "we got majorities in both house," and that people wanted us to deliver. "And everyone was waiting for their little thing, whatever it was, instead of actually acting.

Kaine said, "We blew our timing."

"I'm going to say that we have had for more than two months a broadly-popular legislative achievement that somehow people thought would be useful delaying," Senator Mark Warner of Virginia said to Zeballos Roig. "Only in DC could that strategy pass any type of smell test."

These sentiments were echoed by Biden in remarks at the White House Wednesday.

Biden responded to a reporter's question about what Democrats could have done differently to avoid similar losses in November. He said that "I think we should produce something for the American people."

"Look, people need some breathing space. They are overwhelmed. They are overwhelmed.
