iPhone X Modded With USB-C Port Listed on eBay With Bids Topping $85,000

Robotics student Ken Pillonel posted a video earlier this week explaining how he modified an iPhone X using a functional USB C port instead of the Lightning connector. The USB-C port can be used for data transfer and charging of the iPhone.

Pillonel also offered the device for auction on eBay, with bids already exceeding $85,000. The listing calls the device "the first USB-C iPhone in the world" and "a true piece of collector for Apple fans."

Accepting bids is possible until November 11th, with delivery expected in December. Pillonel stated that anyone who bids for the iPhone X will agree to not restore, update or erase the device and will not open it. He also said that the iPhone X will not be used as a daily device. Pillonel also warns that the modified iPhone X is only a prototype.

The winner will be given the iPhone X 64GB in its box with no accessories. Pillonel will also offer a 30-minute call to the winner bidder if they have any questions regarding the device.

Many have called for Apple to add a USB C port to the iPhone. However, the device still uses Apple's Lightning connector. Apple has adopted USB C for several iPad models, including the latest iPad mini in September.
