Netflix Avatar Last Airbender Live-Action Casts Daniel Dae Kim

Netflix's live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender has added serious TV star power. Daniel Dae Kim is best known for his roles on Lost, Hawaii Five-0 and The Good Doctor. He has now joined the production to play the role of Fire Lord Ozai, the leader of the Fire Nation, and father to Prince Zuko, the villainous teenager.

The news was announced by Netflix on its Twitter account, three months after it had been announced. These are Gordon Cormier (Lost in Space and The Stand) who plays the Avatar; Kiawentiio, (What If Anne With an E), who plays Katara, a budding waterbender; Ian Ousley (13 reasons why, Sorry for Your Loss) who plays Sokkal; and Dallas Liu (PEN15), who plays the aforementioned Zuko. Katara and Sokka meet the Avatar, whom the world believed was missing. They join him on a journey that will see him master all forms of bending. At the request of their father Ozai and their evil Fire Nation, they are chased by Zuko.

Dae Kim was last heard (or seen) as Benja in Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon. The film was heavily inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, and featured Dae Kim as a powerful, compassionate father figure. This show, however, reveals that there are things that have a darker side.

Although the show was not exactly successful, it lost its original creators. However, Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow), who now oversees the show, is trying to make it both more accessible and more enjoyable for those who love the show. Kim stated that authenticity has been our guiding principle throughout this entire process. To the story. To the characters. To the cultural influences. We are inspired by the cultural influences.
