Blackburn Rovers 0-7 Fulham: Free-scoring Cottagers hit seven at Ewood Park

Fulham's Neeskens Kbano scored his first goal against Nottingham Forest just one week ago
Fulham defeated 10-man Blackburn in a free-scoring victory to reach 20 goals in five consecutive wins. This brought them within two points of Championship leaders Bournemouth.

Rovers arrived at the game buoyed from back-to-back victories, but they were unlucky to be beaten by Fulham's rich side since their return from the international break.

After a short teasing run to the right, Neeskens' Kebano hit Bobby DecordovaReid with a cut-back from by-line. It took the Cottagers just six minutes to take the lead.

Aleksandar Mitrovic was in a very close corner to power with his 19th league goal to double the lead. Jan Paul van Hecke's reckless challenge on Harry Wilson shortly after was another blow for the hosts.

Thomas Kaminski, Rovers goalkeeper, made smart saves to deny Mitrovic's attempt to score. However, it was only temporary.

Fulham's Wilson scored two goals in a flash as Fulham took the man advantage. Wilson drove into the box after being selected on the right by a fantastic cross-field pass, before curling in the fourth.

Despite Blackburn's best efforts, visitors made it worse when Kebano scored a fifth from the right side of the field to take his second. Rodrigo Muniz's final double received more cheers.

This game featured Ben Brereton Diaz versus Mitrovic, two of the most prolific scorers in the division. The latter won the duel thanks to his dominance.

Marco Silva's team was at times mesmerising with their passing and movement, and were ruthlessly precise in front of the goal to bring their season's total to 43.

In addition to their relentless attack, they have added defensive steel and kept their fourth clean sheet in succession. They have not conceded a goal in league play for 395 minutes.

Tony Mowbray, Rovers boss, will feel the pain as his players leave the field. Despite the scoreline, they were committed throughout the match despite very few opportunities to trouble Marek rodak.

Tyrhys Didlan tested the Slovakian keeper with a low drive during the first half, having cut in off to the right. BreretonDiaz made a strong effort from the angle from right.

Blackburn was left with a numerical disadvantage by Van Hecke's card. In their attempt to keep the game alive they gave Fulham space to win a big victory.

Tony Mowbray, Blackburn manager, spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire

"They were able to keep their momentum going, it was very difficult for us to stop them. It's not something I would have thought of.

"I don’t think tonight’s a time for us to pore over it. Tomorrow will be a better day. This is not the Blackburn Rovers team that you see. It's the second consecutive loss in a row.

"If we lost by three, four, or five on a consistent basis, you might see a soft underbelly in the team. But I don't believe that that is the case. Tonight, we must take it on the chin."

Fulham boss Marco Silva told BBC Radio London:

It was a great win for us but it is only three points. It is only three points, and we have to be humble enough not to admit that we scored seven goals away from home in this competition.

"We must be happy, to congratulate players who have great momentum, but we need to keep our feet on it, we have got to be humble, and prepare for the next match.

"We must keep going. We know we won’t win all of the games but I don’t want to see the stats last month because we want a winning mentality.

"What we did in half two was to continue doing good things, and it's mandatory for us to keep the clean slate."
