Henry Ruggs Traveling 156 MPH Before Crash w/ .161 BAC, Officials Say

Officials say Henry Ruggs was travelling at 156 MPH just seconds before the crash. He crashed into a Toyota at the back at 127 MPH and had a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit. This resulted in the death of a 23-year old woman.
Ruggs, who was wearing a neck brace and a gash on the face, appeared in court today to answer the charges that he caused the Las Vegas fatal car accident.

These details are alarming. According to new documents, TMZ Sports has obtained, officials claim that Ruggs was driving extremely fast right before he crashed into the Toyota.

According to law enforcement, he could only slow down to 127 MPH at impact.

Officials claim that both Ruggs' car as well as the Toyota rolled more than 500 feet after the impact. This is where the Rav4 caught fire.

She was 23 years old, and she also had a dog that died in her car.

Officers claim Ruggs, who was impaired on the scene, refused to take part in field sobriety testing... before he was finally transported to the hospital.

Police claim that Ruggs' Corvette was seized by police during their investigation into the accident.

Ruggs hearing officials added that Ruggs had bloodwork which revealed that Ruggs was a NFL player with a BAC of.161 -- twice the legal limit of.08.

Ruggs' injuries remain unknown, though police stated in documents that Ruggs had suffered serious injuries. The gash in his face is evident from the mug shot.

Ruggs was charged with DUI resulting from substantial bodily injury and reckless driving. His bail was set at $150,000.

Ruggs was also banned from drinking alcohol and ordered to stop driving. As part of his bail, he must also wear an electronic monitoring device.

The judge stated that he had never witnessed a case in which the defendant was travelling at such high speeds during the hearing.
