"The virus COVID-19 may have had one negative feedback."
Gaias Return
James Lovelock, an influential environmentalist, believes that the Earth self regulates like a living organism.
His Gaia theory (named after the Greek deity with the same name, who is the personification Earth) suggests that the Earth's environment adapts to human abuses.
Gaia, 102, warns that the environment has been treated horrendously and is coming back with avengeance.
Although it may sound like Avatar's plot, this argument is a beautiful representation of the idea of how our actions can throw processes that have been around for a long time out of control. We must act now to avoid serious consequences.

Massive Changes
Lovelock claims that the planet's surface temperatures were controlled for billions of year by Gaia, the Earth's regulating system. This kept it relatively constant and close to optimal for life.
Humanity has altered this carefully balanced formula significantly.
He writes that two genocidal acts, the suffocation of greenhouse gases and the clearing of rainforests, have caused drastic changes not seen in millions. The world is entering a heat age, in which sea level and temperature will rise decade by decade, until it becomes unrecognizable.
Lovelock says that we cannot just build more wind and solar farms to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. The environmentalist came up with a surprising conclusion. To overcome this, we need more nuclear power stations, but the greens must first get over their fear of radiation.

He said that a global pandemic should be a warning sign. Lovelock wrote that COVID-19 was one of the negative feedbacks. Gaia will do better next time, with something even more nastier.
