Scotland: Stoke forward Jacob Brown included in squad for Moldova & Denmark qualifiers

This season, Stoke City's Jacob Brown scored four goals

Jacob Brown, a Stoke City forward, has been called up to Scotland's squad for the final World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Moldova.

After impressive performances, Zander Clark, goalkeeper at St Johnstone is now in the 25-man team.

He will replace Motherwell's Liam Kelly, who was the only player to leave the squad last month.

Scotland will be guaranteed a place in the World Cup play-offs if it wins in Moldova on 12/11.

If they lose, the national team might have to play against Denmark at Hampden in the final game.

Steve Clarke's team will be without Lyndon Dykes, the in-form striker against Moldova in September, and Ryan Christie, the fellow attacker for the game at Chisinau because of suspension.

Kieran Tierney has been included in the squad, despite missing Arsenal's three previous matches because of injury.

Clarke stated, "It's an elite group of players that have done well for their country in recent times."

"Zander has been brought in to replace Liam in goalkeeping.

It's just a normal change. There are two goalkeepers looking to push Craig [Gordon] or Jon McLaughlin over them. It's nice that you can have a look at them both.

"Jacob has had a great spell at Stoke and done well. He caught my attention. We're losing Ryan Christie and Lyndon Christie in the first game. He'll be bringing something different to the table and refreshing the striking area.

Jacob Brown is Jacob Brown's quick and direct?

Scotland fans will be surprised by the inclusion of Brown, 23.

The Yorkshireman is qualified through his mother, and has impressed Stoke this season after joining last year from Barnsley.

In 82 appearances, he scored 12 goals. He also has four assists and four goals this season as Stoke aims to return to the Premier League under Michael O'Neill.

Clarke, Scotland's boss, said that Clarke is "quick and direct".

"He is a hardworking striker who puts defenders in danger. I don't want too much pressure on a young player trying to make his way in the game.

"If he keeps moving forward the way he is, I believe he will be able to do well for his country."
