Who will be the next Tottenham boss after Nuno Espirito Santo sacking?

Last update on.From section Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur is looking for a new manager after only 10 Premier League matches.

Spurs spent a lot of summer looking for a new boss. Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso were all in the running to replace Jose Mourinho. Nuno Espirito Sante was finally appointed.

Nuno has been fired, and Spurs are eighth in the Premier League. Owner Daniel Levy will have to go back to his contacts to find the Portuguese's replacement.

Conte, a former Chelsea boss, is thought to be Tottenham's most important early target. BBC Sport looks at other candidates in a managerial search that will be complicated by Newcastle United also looking for a new boss.

Let us know who you think should be elected at the bottom.

Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte won both the Premier League Cup and the FA Cup during his one-year stint in the Premier League alongside Chelsea

It was the frontrunner to replace Jose Mourino at Spurs this summer, before Conte's talks ended.

Conte is clearly a man who can win trophies, perhaps because of his position as an out-of work manager.

Since 2011, the 52-year old has won five top-flight titles, including victories at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan. He left Inter Milan in May.

Paulo Fonseca

Another former Roma boss was close to being appointed Tottenham manager before talks broke down and they went after Gattuso.

After three years playing for Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, Claudio Ranieri was replaced at Roma by the 48-year old, who is known for his aggressive style of football. Braga and Porto have also been coached by the Portuguese.

Newcastle has already spoken to him about his potential role as their new boss.

Steven Gerrard

Another Liverpool player is being linked to the Newcastle job, but would the 41 year-old quit his job at Rangers now that he has been offered the job?

Gerrard is well-known for his desire to manage the Premier League. His work in Scotland, leading the Ibrox team to their first league title after ten years, has impressed many.

Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag was Ajax's boss for the last four seasons

The four-year tenure of the Dutchman as Ajax boss was impressive. He led the club to the 2018-19 Champions League semi finals and won successive domestic doubles.

The 51-year old was considered for Spurs' job in the summer and has been linked to vacant positions at Newcastle, Barcelona and Madrid.

His contract is up until 2023, so his appointment wouldn't be easy.

Eddie Howe

Howe was a potential future England manager during his time at Bournemouth. He took the Cherries from League One into the Premier League.

Does Bournemouth's two-year-old relegation to the Championship count against him? He is currently unemployed.

Frank Lampard

After starting his managerial career at Derby County, the 43-year-old ex-england midfielder did not cause any damage to his reputation during his 18-month tenure at Chelsea.

Lampard has not yet won a major trophy, so he may not be experienced enough to play the role.

Roberto Mancini

Mancini could be lured from his position as manager of European champions Italy just a year away from the World Cup.

The 56-year old Italian manager was responsible for Manchester City's first Premier League title, four-years after they were taken over from Sheikh Mansour.

He is well-known for his aggressive football style and could be a popular choice.

Ryan Mason

After Mourinho's departure, the former Tottenham midfielder was promoted to the club's academy and became interim manager.

After winning his first match as a manager, he lost the final of the EFL Cup to Manchester City. Mason won three more matches and lost two of his five remaining matches while in temporary charge.

He is currently the head for player development at Tottenham academy.

Scott Parker

Scott Parker has led Bournemouth up to the top in the Championship

Parker, a former Spurs midfielder, has had a great start at Bournemouth.

Parker left Fulham after their Premier League relegation and switched to the Cherries. They are currently at the top of the second division, five points ahead of his former team.

Although a manager whose top-flight experience includes two relegations might not be appealing to Spurs fans, his previous spells as both a player or coach in north London would make him more attractive.

Mauricio Pochettino

In the summer, a Pochettino-return was considered. However, he remained with Paris St-Germain, who have since added Lionel Messi.

It is unlikely that the man who guided Spurs to their Champions League final will leave France mid-season. However, if Levy & Paratici remain with a caretaker until then, they might be able to arrange an emotional reunion for next season.

Graham Potter

Potter continues to be praised for his work at Brighton, which sits above Tottenham in Premier League tables.

Although the former Swansea and Ostersunds boss is being linked to a move to a club that has more resources than Brighton, Spurs might struggle to convince Potter not to continue his project on the south coast.

Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers' move would be undoubtedly impactful, but he seems content at Leicester and quickly moved out of Newcastle when he was linked.

Would a move to Tottenham make more sense, particularly with Spurs currently one point behind the Foxes? Others have reneged on their pledges of loyalty and it would surprise if Levy did not at least call to express his interest.
