Nuno Espirito Santo: Tottenham manager's future in doubt after Manchester United defeat

Last update on. From the section Tottenham
After just 17 games, Nuno Espirito Santato's future is in doubt as Tottenham manager following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at home by Manchester United.

Meetings between Chairman Daniel Levy, Fabio Paratici, managing director of football, and Nuno were held.

In June, the former Wolves boss, 47-year-old, was given a two year contract.

Spurs have lost five of seven Premier League matches this season, despite a promising start.

They are currently eighth in the Premier League, 10 behind leaders Chelsea. Saturday's defeat saw them drop to eighth.

Paulo Fonseca, a Portuguese Nuno who is also in Levy's sights, could be brought back to the fray if Levy takes action.

Former Roma boss, 48, was just a few steps away from being appointed this summer, but he was replaced by Gennaro Galtuso. This was due to some questionable social media comments.

Fonseca and Newcastle United's new owners are in talks as they continue to search for Steve Bruce's replacement.
