England won seven of their seven attempts against New Zealand to win a historic victory and remain the world's number one.

England took a 17-0 lead at halftime thanks to Abbie Ward, second row, and Ellie Kildunne, full-back.

To reaffirm their dominance, the Black Ferns' Alana Brmner crossed over before Lark Davies and Holly Aitchison.

Zoe Harrison was the player of the match and scored the seventh attack.

This was England's first victory against the Black Ferns in 2017 and it surpassed their previous record of 14 wins set in 2011.

After an early barrage, England asserts its dominance

New Zealand arrived at Sandy Park as an unknown entity, having not played in Sandy Park for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Few would have expected such a dominating victory for the Red Roses. Harrison even said that England had exceeded their expectations.

Over the years, the hosts have had many chances to prove their worth in the northern hemisphere. In April, they won a third Six Nations title. This was to prove that they are capable of handling European rivals France.

New Zealand was expected to bring a different level of expertise to Exeter, and they did in the initial stages.

England was subject to an attack barrage in the first 10 minutes of Ward's first attempt against the run-of-play.

Kildunne's swift hands released Dow from the left wing, and Ward secured England with another impressive offload.

England was more confident after Ward's second attempt and Kildunne’s brilliant run away from New Zealand's defenses gave them an easy 17-0 lead at the half-time.
