ATLANTA -- Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley won't play Sunday's game against Carolina Panthers. This is the second game Ridley will miss due to an undisclosed personal issue.
Ridley didn't travel with the team to the Oct. 10 match against the New York Jets in England. However, he did play last week against the Miami Dolphins.
Ridley, 26, has 31 catches for 281 yard and two touchdowns this year. He attended all Atlanta's practices and was there for a community event that was hosted by the team.
Ridley briefly spoke to the media about the personal issue on Oct. 21. This was his last conversation with the media. However, he declined to go into detail about the issues he has been dealing with.
Ridley stated that it doesn't matter what the world is today, and that people should be able to understand why they are interested in what's happening. "But in today’s world, yes, I do. If I say it's personal to you, it means that it's personal to me."
Ridley stated that he believed it would only be a temporary issue but refused to say what he was dealing.
The Falcons will continue to look at Olamide Zaccheaus and Russell Gage as receivers, with Kyle Pitts continuing his large role as rookie tight end. Atlanta may have more two-back looks from Mike Davis and Cordarrelle Paterson, or Pitts and Hayden Hurst could wear two-tight-end looks.
