Black History Month: Long jumper Lex Gillette describes achieving a world record without sight

Lex Gillette lost his sight at eight years of age. He discovered long jump for visually impaired athletes in high school. These athletes run down the runway under the direction of their coaches before taking off.
Gillette now has five Paralympic Silver medals from the five Games that began in Athens in 2004.

He tells BBC Sport about how it feels to leap a world record while blind for Black History Month and Blind Awareness Month.
