Arteta praises Ramsdale for his 'great quality in victory over Leicester
Arsenal paid an initial 24m for Aaron Ramsdale in the summer, a goalkeeper who had back-to-back relegations.
The 23-year old had conceded 130 goals in his previous two seasons at Bournemouth, Sheffield United, but has never been on the losing side since replacing Bernd Leno as Gunners number one.
Ramsdale's performance in Leicester was a perfect example of Mikel Arteta’s start - he made three great saves, one from a James Maddison kick-free.
Arteta stated, "We needed Aaron because of his incredible save just before halftime."
"When I saw Maddison's ball leave Maddison’s foot, my reaction was to say 'goal'. It was amazing. The timing and the moment were perfect.
Ramsdale was a loanee at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon during his earlier years of his career.
He has been so good!
Ramsdale began the season as second fiddle to Leno. However, his promotion to first-choice goalkeeper coincided with a seven game unbeaten league run.
The Sheffield United academy product, bar Chelsea's Edouard Mendy (90%), can boast the highest save percentage (86%) of any goalkeeper who has faced more than one shot on target in the Premier League.
Premier League goalkeepers with highest save percentages (2021-22). Name. Saves Percentage Edouard Medy (Chelsea). 27 90% Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal. 24 86% Jose Sa, Wolves. 27 75% Lukasz Fabianski, West Ham. 25 71% Jordan Pickford, Everton.
His save from Maddison is undoubtedly the game's most memorable moment. However, Harvey Barnes also made crucial interventions to stop Ademola Lookingman, Jonny Evans and Harvey Barnes pulling the hosts back in the contest.
He was awarded the BBC Sport player rating of player of the match with a 9.36 score, which is the second highest award given to Premier League goalkeepers this term.
Arteta said, "He plays with a lot more composure, in an extremely natural way and showing great qualities."
He made three important saves during the match. Aaron performed at the highest level today if you want to win matches, and you have to be consistent.
David Seaman, who was a former Arsenal player and won four FA Cups and two Premier League titles during his 13-year tenure, is also one of many high-profile players who have praised Ramsdale's performance this term.
Seaman said that he was impressed by Seaman's performance at Arsenal. He had previously played for Bournemouth United and Sheffield United. Seaman spoke to BBC World Service prior to the match.
His confidence and form are amazing. He is very energetic with his feet and his reactions are amazing. In almost all games he makes big saves and does it perfectly.
Future England number one
Ramsdale is a well-known figure at Emirates. He not only had to dislodge Leno but also persuade his supporters that he was the right person to challenge the German. After Emiliano Martinez, he was allowed to leave for Aston Villa.
Martin Keown, a former Arsenal defender, said that he had been to a large club and two relegations.
"You might have felt that he was too strong for it. He's stood strong, his character is outstanding, and he made great saves when called upon today.
Ramsdale won caps for England at the under-18 and under-21 level, but he has yet to win his senior cap.
He was able to attend Euro 2020. However, Jordan Pickford and Sam Johnstone played for Gareth Southgate's team more recently.
Arteta believes that he has the chance to claim a spot in the England team because time seems to be on Arteta's side.
Arteta stated, "I believe that when you dream big it is always positive."
Keep your feet on the ground, people make those decisions. But he should be doing what he is doing every day.
"Train like he trains, take care of yourself the same way he does, and you will be rewarded with good performances."
