A talented musician can use almost any instrument. But this Halloween cover of Ghostbusters' theme song takes it in a surprising direction. Device Orchestra posts music videos that are only made with sounds from common household appliances. This video is the creation of a Finnish YouTuber, who has been making gadget-powered covers since 2014. (via Wikitubia). Device Orchestra compiled 14 gadgets to accompany its composition, including an electric toothbrush with googly eyes.
An electric toothbrush, with pipe cleaners as arms, stands in the center of the room. It belts out the familiar chorus in a tone that is comparable to a musically-inclined bee. Although it might be the star of this show, there are plenty of backups.
One line of receipt machines makes the sound of synths while another electric toothbrush moves beneath a white sheet. In the background, a typewriter clicks, while a buzzer from a body trimmer and a nail polishing tool (which is a hair-removal device) sounds. Even though it doesn't make much of the overall composition, the iron provides visual effects by producing steam puffs to create a creepy vibe.
This cover is more enjoyable to listen to than Ghostbusters' theme. It is fascinating to hear how each device sounds together. However, it is also surprisingly soothing. Additional bonus: The wobbling eyes.
