Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will be a game-time decision for SNF

Marcus Spears predicts that the Cowboys will defeat the Vikings on Sunday night with or without Dak Prescott. (0:56).
Two sources confirmed to ESPN's Ed Werder that the Dallas Cowboys will make their decision about Dak Prescott's availability for Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

One source stated that "We literally are going to take it into tomorrow [night]," another said.

Officially, Prescott is considered questionable due to a calf strain that he sustained on the game-winning touchdown play against the New England Patriots Oct. 17. Although he didn't take team snaps during week-long practices, he did take them in all walkthroughs.

Before flying to Minneapolis, the Cowboys did what they call "launch", a fast-paced exercise before taking off.

Prescott stated that he would like to play, but that it was not his decision. Prescott and Britt Brown, the director of rehabilitation, will be heavily involved in Dallas' decision making. Britt was responsible for overseeing Prescott's recovery from the dislocation and fracture of his right ankle, as well as the right latissimus strain that he sustained in training camp.

Prescott said that he would like to play but that the decision must be made based on what is best for the entire season. The Cowboys won five straight and hold a strong lead in NFC East. However, they are currently fourth in conference playoff standings, behind the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who they lost to in their season opener) and the Arizona Cardinals.

Coach Mike McCarthy stated that Prescott felt sore on Friday after he had pushed his rehabilitation work to the limit on Thursday.

"We are clearly in our seventh game. McCarthy stated that there is still a lot of football to play. McCarthy said, "That's definitely part and parcel of the decision. We're giving him the time he needs to process it all."

Cooper Rush would start Prescott's first career start, and Will Grier would be his backup. Prescott could be the Cowboys' first quarterback against the Vikings.

Rush was the only one to take all of the snaps for the first team in practice this week. However, he has thrown three passes in his entire career and none since 2017.

Rush stated, "This is what players work for." This is what you want. You want to play Sunday. You've waited your whole life for this moment, and you worked hard to get there. It would be a great honor to get out there and continue this journey with my team.
