Americans still love to escape to Florida during winter. Airlines are available to help with this by offering new flights to Florida in November.
Three airlines have launched new flights between the Northeast and cities in Florida. This will give travelers more options for traveling south during winter. Avelo Airlines and JSX will join the busy East Coast air corridor. Each airline has its own style and varying levels of luxury.
Avelo Airlines, a low-cost startup, will offer the most flights from Florida to all three. It will fly to the popular destinations of Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers as well as Sarasota and Tampa. The airport is located in Connecticut's Tweed New Haven Regional Airport. The prices for the first flight start at $49, but customers will need to pay more for additional features such as baggage allowance or seat assignment.
New Haven is located 80 miles from New York City and can be attracted to by a variety of travelers, from wealthy Connecticutans to budget-minded budget travellers. Avelo launched April flights with a fleet Boeing 737 aircraft. This is part of a new wave airlines that aims to provide friendly customer service and low fares. Insider was on the inaugural flight.
A new airline will be launching flights to Florida from the Northeast. It promises a luxurious experience with a competitive price. Semi-private airline JSX is set to fly five flights per week between White Plains and New York City, beginning November 18.
The fares start at $749 for one-way. They include two checked bags, private terminals on both sides of the journey, snacks, drinks and cocktails. JSX's Embraer E135/E145 aircraft have only 30 leather seats. There is extra legroom and in-seat electricity throughout the cabin.
Elite Airways, a scheduled carrier for passengers that also offers charter services on demand, will launch flights between Newark, New Jersey, and St Augustine in Florida on November 19. Elite Airways' Bombardier regional planes will be used for the weekender service, which will be available Mondays through Fridays.
Fly for as low as $129 one way and get complimentary seat assignments, checked baggage, onboard snacks, and beverages. Elite Airways offers flights from Newark to Melbourne, Florida.
Florida was a top choice for travelers even after the second wave of pandemics in late 2020. United Airlines added 17 flights to Florida in 2020, originating from the Northeast and Midwest, to attract the new market of leisure travellers heading south.
Florida is a popular destination for vacationers due to its sunny climate year round and less emphasis on pandemics. For the same reason, others sought to avoid Florida, which was a permanent fixture on the travel advisory lists of states like New York.
On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared that the state has achieved a COVID-19 average case rate of eight per 100,000 residents. This is the lowest level of any US state. The death rate in Florida remains high at 123.9 per 100,000 residents, according to New York Times data. This puts Florida second to Texas, despite the fact that 60% of the population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Connecticut has a similar low daily average case rate at nine per 100,000, while New York has the highest at 19. Florida leads Connecticut and New York in vaccination rates, but both states have confirmed COVID-19 cases.
All three airlines have new flights that are available for booking.
