Facebook is developing a high-end VR headset codenamed Project Cambria. During its Connect conference on Thursday, the company teased the device. The headset will be released sometime next year, the company said. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, stated that the headset will be a high-end product apart from its $299 Quest 2 headset. It will also be more expensive than the Quest 2 headset.
Cambria will offer capabilities that aren't available on other VR headsets. The new sensors will enable your virtual avatar to keep eye contact with you and show your facial expressions. According to the company, this will enable you to feel more connected with people online. Mixed-reality experiences will also be a focus of the headset. Facebook claims Cambria can represent objects in the real world using new sensors and reconstruction algorithms.
Cambria will also include new optics, which the company claims will improve visual fidelity. Facebook promised that it would share more information about the headset in the coming year. Facebook mentioned that third-party developers were already creating experiences for the headset.
