United Airlines announced several new international routes a few weeks ago. The airline has announced more international routes today. The airline has added frequencies to three routes and a new route.
United expands its flights to London
United Airlines announced five new frequencies to London starting in spring 2022. This will mean that there will be 22 daily flights to London. These are the new frequencies we can expect as of March 26, 2022.
United will offer a daily Boston-London route using the Boeing 767 300ER.
United will offer a sixth and seventh daily Newark-London flight using the Boeing 767 300ER.
United will offer a second daily Denver-London flight using the Boeing 7877-9.
United will offer a third daily San Francisco-London flight using the Boeing 7877-9.
United will add five new London frequencies
After all, United will be offering the following frequencies to London next summer:
1x Daily from Boston (BOS).
3x Daily from Chicago (ORD).
Denver (DEN), 2x daily
2x daily from Houston (IAH).
Los Angeles (LAX), 1x daily
7x Daily departure from Newark (EWR).
3x daily departure from San Francisco (SFO).
3x Daily from Washington Dulles (IAD).
United will offer 22 daily flights to London next summer
My view on Uniteds London expansion
United is often innovative in international expansion and operates routes that major airlines would not consider. Today's announcement is a little more traditional. United has opened up travel between the United States of America and the United Kingdom in both directions to vaccinated travelers. Transatlantic demand will certainly return.
It is still unknown if business travel, which is how airlines make their money on these routes, will return in 2022 in the same way United anticipates. These additional frequencies shouldn't be surprising since United already has enough Heathrow slots.
It's great to see United finally offering a Boston-London route. This flight was announced for the first time in February 2021. It was clearly an answer to JetBlues plans of launching transatlantic flights from London.
United will face significant competition in this market. American & British Airways, Delta & Virgin Atlantic have a joint venture. JetBlue is also available. It will be fascinating to see how United can compete with JetBlue on a daily basis, and without disrupting pricing.

Bottom line
United Airlines announced five new daily flights to London starting March 2022. This includes the launch of a new Boston-to-London route. United Airlines is betting big on a transatlantic revival, with 22 daily flights to London next summer.
