The massive run of shiba Inu has made the coin the eighth-largest cryptocurrency and the top meme token after its creation in August 2020.
What is a meme token exactly? John Wu, president and CEO of Ava Labs (the team behind altcoins avalanche), stated that these tokens are driven by culture. They represent a underlying theme or movement rather than a specific technical use case.
However, meme coins are not useless. They are often borne out jokes. For example, the ethereum-based Shiba Inu is creating shibarium, shobosi games, and offering non-fungible tokens.
The eye-popping success story of shiba Inu reinforces the fact that investors shouldn't dismiss mem tokens, Tim Frost of YIELD App, CEO, said to Insider.
"Buying and selling crypto tokens determine the value. Frost stated that if people who are buying decide they like a dog-meme coin, then a dog-meme coin will be very popular."
