Madeleine Mantock, the Charmed reboots' star, announced her departure from the show. It was easy to see the similarities between the CW series and the WB predecessor, which starred Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty in the mid-90s. The latter is also in the news to discuss old drama.

Prue (Doherty), who was the oldest of the Halliwell siblings, had become the most powerful Charmed Ones in her fight against the forces of evil along with her fellow witches. However, her untimely and complicated end to season three saw her go. Her youngest sister Phoebe, (Milano), devised a plan to travel back in time to alter history and keep magic secret. Unfortunately, Prue's powers were exposed and her younger sister Prue (Doherty) died. Charmed spent so much time harping about the Power of Threethe unique familial magic that the Halliwell siblings shared as a trio. It was truly surprising how little energy was spent on Prues funeral and how quickly Paige (Rose McGowan) was replaced.
Charmeds have only explored Prues departure in a few plots from their Charmed comics. This was after the cancellation of the original TV series. There has been much speculation that Doherty and Milano had some off-camera friction over the reason for Prue's exit. Milano says there is some truth to this. Milano admitted that she and Doherty have been on cordial terms in a recent interview about Sorry Not Sorry. However, she admits to having let her competitive nature affect her relationship with her costar. Milano stated that she can accept responsibility for some of the tension we experienced. She felt that I was competing with Doherty rather than being a sister. I feel guilty about that.
Charmed was transformed after Prue's death. The Halliwells adapted to the discovery of their long-lost siblings existence and worked out what Paige meant in relation to the Charmed Ones. Although the series didn't have a leader, Prue was gone and Phoebe, Piper, took on more responsibilities as the most experienced witches in the family. Although Charmed did eventually find a new foundation, Prue's absence from the series was an ominous sign that the series had failed to move forward.

Milano stated that Doherty's 2015 diagnosis of breast cancer was what made Milano reach out to Doherty in an effort to make amends. She also explained how she would have handled the Charmed set differently if she had known. Milano expressed respect for Doherty. She is a great actress and she loves her family so much. I wish I had felt strong enough to see that back then.
