The official trailer for Netflix's live-action Cowboy Bebop series has arrived. The trailer was released during a live countdown that featured appearances by John Cho, Daniella Pineda and Mustafa Shakir. It is a glimpse into what we can expect for the highly anticipated adaptation to the iconic anime series.
John Cho plays Spike Spiegel, and we see him standing on the deck at the Bebop. We also hear him talk to Anna about his current activities. We are treated to scenes from Spikes past life as a mobster and his new partner Jet. A moody shot of Spike's reflection in a pool should also be included.
The Cowboy Bebop trailer shows the same high-stylized action Netflix displayed in a teaser last week, with more scenes that look almost identical to the anime. We were able to see Pierrot Le Fou (Spikes clown enemy), and a few funny moments between Spike and Jet (with Eins debut). They do a great job of highlighting their contentious relationship.
I am glad that we were able to hear more songs then just Tank! The live-action Cowboy Bebop announcement that Yoko Kanno, the original anime composer, would return to the show to compose new music was one of the most surprising and delightful. The trailer began with a muted horn track that could have been an arrangement for Cosmos. It gave us a glimpse of what the highly acclaimed anime composer might be up to.
Netflix will bring Cowboy Bebop to its viewers on November 19th.
