Smart home technology is often viewed as a convenience. However, it also serves an important purpose: It allows elderly loved ones to live independently with a little help. Care Hub has been a great way to serve Alexa's purpose, but it is now expanding in another direction.
Alexa Smart Properties will enable senior living residents to keep in touch with their family and friends through their Echo device. Friends and family can reach loved ones by simply calling. Administrators can also choose from a variety of Alexa Skills that will tailor the resident's experience.
This rollout will allow senior living communities to communicate with their residents more effectively. The Echo device can be used to communicate with residents via voice or video call. Residents can also use it to request administrative support or maintenance without ever leaving their homes. Atria, Eskaton and other communities have made plans to install Alexa Smart Properties in select locations.
The use of Alexa is not limited to senior living communities. Alexa Smart Properties will be used by select hospitals to allow patients to communicate with their nurses and control their devices from their rooms. Drop In allows health care professionals to talk to patients in their private rooms. This gives them more privacy and helps to conserve medical supplies such as gowns, gloves, masks, and gloves.
Patients can also use Alexa to check menus, make food requests, and listen to podcasts or music. This system was adopted by hospitals such as Cedars-Sinai and BayCare.
Alexa Smart Properties is also available for use in apartments, vacation rentals, hotels, and other accommodation. To provide a personalized experience, the API can be used for creating custom skills that meet the needs of guests. Soon, Echo devices may be available in your favorite hotels or vacation spots.
